Britt Festivals, a non-profit organization, is the Pacific Northwest's premier outdoor summer performing arts festival. Britt presents dozens of summer concerts, featuring world-class artists in classical music, jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, world, pop and country music. Britt's performance venue is a naturally formed amphitheater set among majestic ponderosa pines and native madrones on the beautiful hillside estate of 19th century photographer Peter Britt. Tens of thousands of music lovers travel from all over the West to enjoy Britt's world-class performances, spectacular scenery and casual, relaxing atmosphere. The Britt Amphitheater is walking distance from the Magnolia Inn, and we can provide complimentary "Britt chairs" for lawn seating.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is nationally renowned and is among the oldest and largest professional non-profit theatres in the nation. Each year OSF presents an eight-and-a-half-month season of eleven plays in three theatres plus numerous ancillary activities, and undertakes an extensive theatre education program. Operating on a budget exceeding $26 million, OSF presents more than 780 performances annually with attendance of approximately 400,000. The OSF performs in nearby Ashland, a picturesque 25 minute drive from Jacksonville.

Jacksonville is the heart of the Southern Oregon Wine Area. There are several wine tasting rooms in Jacksonville itself, representing wines from various areas of the Southern Oregon wine country. Jacksonville also serves as the "Gateway to the Applegate Wine Trail". Award winning premium wineries, such as Fiasco Winery, Troon Vineyards and Red Lily Vineyards are but a few of the outstanding venues you can visit as close as 10 minutes from Jacksonville.

Crater Lake National Park is a mere 1.5 hour drive from Jacksonville, and gives you the opportunity to experience one of Americas most beautiful natural wonders. The drive to Crater Lake is spectacular, and offers several stopping points on the way to experience a variety of sights. It makes a perfect 1/2 day trip.



The nearby Rogue River, is a paradise for all kinds of water activities. A 20 minute drive can put you on the river where you can try your luck for trophy Steelhead or King & Coho Salmon. There are numerous guide services available in the area, and Robert, here, at the Magnolia Inn can get you set up with the best available. There are also rafting services available with guides for some exhilarating white water fun, or rent your own with shuttle service for less technical water. One of the more popular experiences on the Rogue River is going on a Hells Gate Jet Boat ride. Outdoor activities such as hiking, road and mountain biking, and geo-cache treks are but a few of the popular outdoor activities in and around Jacksonville. There are miles of well marked trails that leave and return in Jacksonville. The nearby Upper and Lower Table Rocks are popular destinations for hikers and are only minutes from town. Once a sanctuary for Takelma Indians, today these cliff-edged mesas near Medford are a haven for hikers and endangered wildflowers. Views from the cliffs extend across the Rogue River to the Siskiyous and the Cascades as well as Mt McLaughlin. Bicycles can be rented a couple blocks from the Magnolia Inn, as can the renting of the fun filled Segways.

Jacksonville and the surrounding area is filled with pioneer history. The Jacksonville Historic Cemetery is a “must visit, and you can spend hours wandering amongst the old growth trees and ancient markers. Beside the fact that the whole town of Jacksonville is listed on the National Historic Register, there are several other historical points of interest throughout the Rogue Valley. There is a large concentration of covered bridges in southern Oregon, and two are in our neighborhood. The Rogue Valley also boasts being the home to the Butte Creek Mill, the last water-powered grist mill, still commercially operating, this side of the Mississippi. The artisan Rogue Creamery has been in operation since the 1930's and has recently garnered numerous awards including "World's Best Blue Cheese" at the World Cheese Awards in London.

Oregon Caves National Monument is a located a little over an hours drive from Jacksonville through the Applegate Valley. This spectacular venture is well worth the time. The Monument is open year-round, although snow sometimes blocks the road to the park. Cave tours are offered from mid-spring (mid-April) to late fall (early November), and the visitor center is open when the cave is open for tours. The schedule varies from season to season, but tours generally start no earlier than 9 a.m. and no later than 6p.m.
The Rogue Valley ZipLine Adventure is one of the Valley's newest and most exciting ways to spend an adventurous afternoon. This thrilling "Rogue Valley ZipLine Adventure" will take you high above the Rogue Valley as you soar through over 2700 feet of Zip on their "five Zipline" course. After viewing the amazing scenery & visible landmarks from above the tree tops (Crater Lake Rim, Mt. McLaughlin, Mt. Thielson, Table Rocks…) you will take your 5th and final ZIP on the longest ZIPLINE the Pacific North West has to offer (1300+ feet).
